June 5th is World Environment Day. What better way to celebrate our planet than to contribute towards a greener planet.
On World Environment day, we conducted a sapling drive at KTC in which all our staff were invited to plant one sapling each. We partnered with the Karnataka Forest Department to procure saplings for Rs.3/- each. With the help of the landscaping team, we prepared pits for about 70 saplings two days prior to the final date. Adding manure to the pits set the base for the saplings to grow into a healthy tree.
On June 5th, 2020, our staff volunteered for this project and about 70 Jamaican cherry saplings were planted at the Northern boundary of the campus.
Being a fast growing tree, we hope for a green, shady cover in about six months. These trees would also bring the overall heat load on campus. It surely is a wonderful feeling to walk amongst these beautiful trees!
